Darkroom Gallery bring you the Real Life Photo Contest. The state of things as they actually exist. Photography that brings the authenticity of life into focus.
Images that document real life. That capture the truth, from the smallest of details to the largest historic events. Our cameras, unbiased and wit-less, tell it all. But the real the art lies behind the technique of framing, strategy of lighting and the choice moment one’s finger commands the shutter to open and shut.
Photography can elicit change, spark revolutions and tell the stories of those without voices. Societal anthropology studied frame by frame, highlighting the ups and downs, ins and outs of the human condition.
These days we get inundated with “Reality” TV shows which cannot be anything farther than their titled fare. This is our answer to those fake programs: an anti-scripted exhibit. Show us the vulnerable subtleties of real life, the moments we must record, to dissect and ruminate upon lest we forget this world we dwell within.
Real life, show us what you have captured.
Darkroom Gallery offer free matting and framing of accepted entries for the duration of each exhibition, subject to standard sizes. Photographers set their own prices if they wish to sell their work and retain all rights to their photographs.
