Just upload it to the wood page before 31st July 2013 and you’ll be in with a chance. So far we’ve seen everything from snow scenes to mighty hornbeams…keep them coming.
Images may be basically enhanced, (i.e. contrast, saturation, brightness, cropping, conversion to black and white, red-eye removal) but may not be edited (e.g. elements added or removed, filters or effects applied, etc)
Forests & People – Sponsored by WWF
This category celebrates our connection with forests. Because they’re our playgrounds, our inspiration – and they need our protection. WWF is working hard to protect forests across the globe from the many threats they face – from illegal logging to climate change. As well as being a home to wildlife, forests are vital to our planet’s health and fundamental to our well-being. Forests also provide food, shelter, fuel and a source of income to 1.6 billion people in poverty.
All Creatures Great & Small – Sponsored by DoubleTree by Hilton
This category is all about the wildlife you find on your woodland trips from birds and bees to deer and dormice. Bringing two great “tree brands” together in a community outreach effort, DoubleTree supports VisitWoods to develop a series of natural education initiatives that encourage and inspire people across the UK to connect with and appreciate the importance of woodlands and their wildlife.
Nature’s Playground – Sponsored by nature detectives
This category is for budding photographers aged 14 and under – capture your wild adventures and exciting discoveries out in the woods. Explore secret hiding places, nooks and crannies. Experiment with different perspectives by crawling on your belly or climbing up high. Show off your favourite tree or an unforgettable wildlife sighting, or simply show us how you, your friends and family enjoy playing in the woods
Ancient Woods & Modern Wonders – Sponsored by the Woodland Trust
Ancient woodland is home to a wealth of wildlife and is the UK equivalent to rainforests. We’re looking for images of woods old or new demonstrating how they create our scenery and landscapes for all generations to enjoy.
