Deadline Extended to September 15. The NME – one of the largest music weekly publications – has once again teamed up with Nikon for this year’s NME Photography Awards 2013. The competition is looking for the very best in music photography, with all levels of photographers accepted in both amateur and professional categories. You never know, this time next year it could be your photo decorating newsstands up and down the country on NME’s front cover.
You may submit up to 5 images in total to any one category:
Live: Photographs of bands performing.
Portrait: A posed photograph.
Documentary: An un-staged photograph that tells a story.
Festivals: Pictures taken at live music events. Shots can be un-staged or posed.
Under 18: All types of photographs are accepted. Proof of age may be requested.
Professional: For working photographers. A themed portfolio of five images must be submitted.
Contest Prize & TERMS
The winner of the Readers' Choice award will win an extra £250 of Nikon kit at RRP value.
Further to this each winner in the amateur categories will be invited to the NME offices to meet NME's picture editor and and NME photographer for a professional consultation on their portfolio. Two of the winners will then be invited to shoot a gig for us.
The winner in the professional photographer of the year category will win a Nikon D600 camera and 24-85mm lens worth £2475.98.
Plus for the first time this year, readers who vote for the Readers' Choice winner will be entered into a draw to win one of three COOLPIX S9500 cameras worth £279.99.
Images should be submitted as an SRGB JPEG files no larger than 400kb. Images should be no larger than 700 x 700 pixels, can be in colour or black & white may only be submitted as digital files using the upload system. Not eligible to enter? - Find contest where you are.

You alone are the author of your image, that it is your original work and that it was produced within the last 12 months;
You are the sole copyright holder;
You have not licensed any rights in the image that conflict with the usage rights required by IPC
IPC respects photographers’ rights and does not claim copyright for images you submit to this competition. You will retain full copyright in each image you enter
USAGE RIGHTS: The winner(s) agree(s) to the use of their name, submitted image and disclosure of country of residence and will co-operate with any other reasonable requests by IPC relating to any post-winning publicity
By entering this competition you agree that any winning or shortlisted image submitted by you may be used by IPC (and its partners) solely for marketing and promotional purposes connected with this competition or future versions of this competition and no other purpose. such uses may include:
judging the competition;
displaying the entries on the competition website (and websites of partners);
displaying the entries at public exhibitions to promote the competition;
displaying the entries in books, magazine or similar;
publishing the entries on posters to promote the competition;
publishing the entries on postcards to promote the competition;
publishing the entries on a calendar to promote the competition;
cropping and re-sizing the image as necessary to fit pre-defined formats to promote the competition;
sub-licensing the entries to the press for reproduction in connection with the competition and any related exhibition; and inclusion within any materials promoting the competition or any exhibition of images from this competition organized by IPC.
You hereby grant IPC a non-exclusive, irrevocable licence to use your entry throughout the world in or on all forms media as described above, from the date of entry until 2 years after the date of announcement of the winners.
Should the necessity for any image use beyond those needed to promote the competition arise you will be contacted and given the opportunity to negotiate any such use with the parties concerned independently of the competition.
