The spectacle of The Boat Race has inspired artists since it began. Numerous paintings, films, posters and photographs immortalise the event. Now it’s your chance to get your artistic juices flowing.
We’re asking Light and Dark Blues to upload the photos they take inspired by the theme of ‘water’.
As the medium the crews glide through, water is an inherent part of The Boat Race experience. Is it benevolent as it supports the boats and rewards their technique? Or is it a fickle foe to battle as it changes over the course of The Race? Beautiful or treacherous. Passive or life-giving. You decide.
The brief is open. You could capture water in nature, in the home or at The BNY Mellon Boat Race itself. From a mighty waterfall to a dripping tap, to a place where water used to be; we’ll be rewarding the originality, aesthetic appeal and composition of your submission.
When choosing the winners, the judges will be looking for an original and interesting interpretation of the theme, aesthetic appeal and good composition.
